MCCSF Overview
The Medicinal Chemistry and
Core Synthesis Facility at Boston University (MCCSF-BU) is
a new component of the CMLD-BU tasked with providing synthetic
and medicinal chemistry resource and expertise to the
biomedical research community at the University and its environs.
Operating as a University Service Center, the MCCSF-BU will :
Optimize leads identified from CMLD-BU chemical libraries.
Provide synthetic and medicinal chemistry support for the development of novel small molecule tool compounds.
Provide consultation for University biomedical researchers seeking to pursue small molecule approaches for newly identified molecular targets of disease.
Support projects in translational research at Boston University by providing cutting-edge medicinal chemistry resource and expertise.
Enhance the intellectual property position of classes of small molecules identified as potential therapeutic interventions by strategic compound design and synthesis.
Perform synthesis of known ligands or probes for researchers at Boston University and in the Greater Boston area on a fee-for-service basis.
Capabilities at the MCCSF include:
Synthetic organic chemistry (milligram to multi-gram scale)
Medicinal chemistry, including hit-to-lead and lead optimization, and development of small molecule chemical tools
Parallel synthesis and purification
Computational modeling and compound design
