The Medicinal Chemistry and Core Synthesis Facility at Boston University (MCCSF-BU) is a new component of the CMLD-BU tasked with optimizing the biological properties of screening hits identified from CMLD-BU chemical libraries. The facility will also conduct lead optimization of other candidate molecules identified in biological studies. Applying modern, technology-enabled medicinal chemistry techniques, the MCCSF will optimize potency, selectivity, and physical properties of hit compounds in order to provide biological collaborators with high-quality molecular probes. These probes will be used to probe enzyme function, to modulate cellular function, and to screen in phenotypic assays.

Compounds developed in the context of these hit-to-probe medicinal chemistry programs will be deposited in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Molecular Libraries Small Molecule Repository, thereby continuing to enhance this high-throughput screening deck.
