Paola
Castaldi Dr. Castaldi obtained her Laurea degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Università degli Studi di Padova (Italy) in 2002. Her Ph.D. research at Imperial College London (Prof. S. E. Gibson) focused on the development of a methodology to introduce multiple chiral centers around aromatic cores towards the synthesis of C2- and C3- symmetric chiral ligands. In November 2005, she began her postdoctoral studies at the University of California, San Diego under Prof. Y. Tor and Prof. T. Hermann and worked on structure-based design and synthesis of small molecules to specifically bind RNA. She joined the CMLD-BU in October 2007 and worked on the synthesis of highly functionalized spirocyclic compounds.
Dr. Castaldi is now a Scientist at Makoto Life Sciences in Eastern Massachusetts.
